Jonas Krauss studied Information Systems at the University of Cologne with specialization in Information Management and Supply Chain Management, his diploma thesis covered Business Policy and Logistics. Besides internships in the area of business consulting and airline IT management he visited the Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu for a semester abroad. Together with Stefan Nann he developed a methodology for the evaluation of unstructured online communication to identify trends. This approach uses the wisdom of crowds, experts, and swarms and has successfully been applied to predict Academy Award nominations in January 2007. An extended version of the approach has been used to anticipate stock price developments in a research project at MIT.
